WordPress Maintenance & Support

Keep your website looked after

WordPress maintenance for businesses that rely on their website

You need your website to keep working, but managing updates is rarely the best use of your time. WordPress, plugins and themes all change. Some updates are routine; others can affect your forms, checkout or the features your business depends on.

A maintenance plan should give you a clear process for updates, checks and follow-up, with someone who knows your site.

I provide WordPress maintenance services and ongoing support for Australian businesses, including WooCommerce stores.

Based on the Sunshine Coast, I work directly with you to keep the routine care organised and identify issues that need attention. You can hand over an existing website; I do not need to have built it.

A considered approach to updates

Keep WordPress, plugins and themes up to date

Keeping software current helps address known vulnerabilities and compatibility issues. The job is more than clicking Update All: it involves understanding what your site uses and checking that important functionality still works afterwards.

Managed software updates

I review available WordPress, plugin and theme updates and apply suitable changes in manageable stages.

Updates affecting WooCommerce, a page builder, payment gateways or custom functionality need more care than a straightforward utility-plugin update. Uncertain changes are investigated or deferred rather than pushed through.

Updates follow the needs of your site, with higher-risk changes planned before they are applied.

Backup and recovery checks

Before changes, I check the available backup and recovery arrangements. Your plan sets out what is backed up, where it is stored and how recovery is handled.

For an active store, rollback needs to account for orders and other records created since a backup; restoring an older database is not a casual first step.

Post-update functionality checks

Checks focus on what matters to your business: key pages, forms and, for stores, products, basket, checkout and relevant integrations.

The test scope depends on your setup. If a check fails, I investigate the change and determine the appropriate next step instead of continuing the update batch.

WordPress bug fixing is separately scoped when a specific defect needs investigation beyond routine care.

WordPress care beyond version numbers

Know what needs attention on your website

Maintenance gives you a regular opportunity to spot issues before they are left for months. The agreed care scope can include site-health, security, uptime and SSL checks, with findings recorded and follow-up made clear.

You should know what was updated, what was tested and what still needs work.

Security and site-health checks

I review relevant warnings and the site’s existing security arrangements as part of the agreed plan. Outdated software, failed scheduled tasks or certificate problems may need attention.

Maintenance reduces avoidable risks; it cannot guarantee that a website will never be compromised or go offline.

A wider access or configuration review can be scoped as WordPress security hardening.

A clear maintenance summary

You receive a summary of the work completed, any deferred updates and issues needing a decision.

That helps you understand the condition of your site without having to interpret a long list of plugin versions. Work outside routine care is identified separately.

Plugin coverage and third-party costs

Premium-plugin coverage depends on the products your site uses and the access available for them. I review your existing licences before quoting any additional coverage.

Vendor accounts, direct vendor support, hosting, cloud subscriptions and external API or AI usage are separate unless explicitly included.

Care for online stores

WooCommerce maintenance that considers how your store operates

A store has more to check than a standard brochure website. Product options, shipping, payments, subscriptions or wholesale rules may depend on several plugins working together. Care needs to reflect those dependencies.

The important question after an update is whether customers can still use the store as intended.

Checks around your buying journey

The plan identifies the relevant journeys and systems to check, such as product selection, basket totals, delivery choices and checkout. Payment testing is arranged appropriately for the gateway and access available. Any limitations are recorded rather than treated as a successful test.

Changes that need closer review

Major WooCommerce changes and updates to payment, shipping or other business-critical extensions may need a separate testing window or further approval. Where a suitable test environment is needed, that is discussed and scoped before the work.

A custom WordPress API integration may need its own compatibility checks and monitoring responsibilities.

Separate care from new development

Routine maintenance looks after the agreed existing setup. New functionality, integrations, redesigns, content, SEO and campaign work are separate services. An existing fault or significant security incident may also need an initial repair before the site is ready for ongoing care.

For changes to store functionality, see WooCommerce development and support.

Direct access to your developer

Work with someone who understands the website

  • Direct contact with Ricky, the person reviewing and maintaining your site.
  • Care scope and response arrangements agreed around your website.
  • Clear reporting on completed work, deferred changes and next steps.
  • Sunshine Coast based, supporting businesses across Australia.

If you need ongoing improvements as well as maintenance, we can discuss a separate managed-support arrangement alongside routine care.

Questions about handing over your site

How WordPress maintenance and support work

The right arrangement depends on your website, current condition and the amount of support you need. We start by looking at the existing setup and agreeing the responsibilities and limits.

A clear scope helps you compare plans by what is actually included.

Yes. I can assess an existing WordPress site and its dependencies before recommending a care arrangement. If the site needs repairs, licence changes or cleanup first, I explain that separately so ongoing maintenance starts from a sensible baseline.

Tell me what is happening and when it started. Initial troubleshooting or recovery may be needed before routine care begins. Failed-update follow-up within a maintenance run and a separate pre-existing problem are different scopes; the proposal makes that distinction clear.

For a hacked, offline or failing site, see WordPress site recovery.

I quote around the site’s complexity, store functionality, plugins, backup arrangements and support scope. The proposal sets out routine care, any premium-plugin coverage and separately billed work.

Response arrangements are agreed with you; this page does not offer an unlimited-support or round-the-clock emergency plan.

Dedicated speed work is covered by WordPress performance optimisation.
